The Wade Tract Preserve is a 200+ acre old-growth longleaf forest/research area managed by Tall Timbers Research Station near Thomasville, GA. The preserve is surrounded by 3,000 acres of well managed pine woodlands and is one of several estates in the region containing frequently burned old-growth longleaf pine forests, an incredibly rare ecosystem in the Southeast. Many of the longleaf pines are hundreds of years in age. The Wade Tract has been well studied by ecologists.
